Meeting!
Last night's meeting went very well! Didn't have a huge turnout, but we are slowly getting there! We had some nice conversations, and it was great hearing from somebody else's perspective about living with chronic pain.
Our next meeting is scheduled for October 25th! I'll post reminders as we get closer to the date!

2 More Days!
Hope to get the word out for those who are looking for a support group! We are meeting every 3rd Thursday of the month, which means our next meeting is this Thursday at 7:00!
This is a free informal support group for those who suffer from Fibromyalgia (like me), or any other chronic pain! It is also open to those who do their very best to help those of us who are in constant pain (like my wonderful hubby)!

Today's the BIG Day!
The very first Eastside FM and CP Support Group is tonight at 7:00 p.m. at 11160 Montwood Drive. Remember, this group is free of charge and open to those who either suffer from some sort of Chronic Pain, or support someone who suffers from Chronic Pain!

Getting Excited!
Only 2 more days until our first support group meeting. I'm getting excited and nervous at the same time. Remember this group is opened to anyone suffering from some type of chronic pain, or for anyone who is a friend or family member of a person suffering from chronic pain.
We will be meeting at Desert View United Church of Christ, located at 11160 Montwood Drive. This meeting will not be religious in nature, my pastor was just nice enough to let me use the building.

Name Change
I've changed the name of this blog from Bon's FM and CP Support Group to Eastside FM and CP Support Group. I'm getting a lot of positive feedback about the group, and am expecting a good turnout for our first meeting. I didn't realize how many people suffer from some type of chronic pain whether it's due from fibro, lupus, or some other disorder. This first meeting is going to be about getting to know each other and finding out what kind of topics we would like to discuss for future meetings. If you know anyone who is suffering from some kind of chronic pain and live in the El Paso area, tell them about our group.

Excited!
Hello All!
I'm really getting excited about the idea of this support group. I went to my rheumatologist (who is really up to date on his fibromyalgia) and told him about the group I'm forming. He was very happy and asked me to bring a flier to office for him to display. He said it was about time someone started a group since there were so many people who suffer from fibromyalgia. He also told me how hard it is for people to be told there is nothing wrong with them, or that it is all in their head.
I think once we have gotten this group up and running, I will try to get him to come speak to the group.
I have opened a separate email just for the group. You can contact me at fibrogirl67@gmail.com if you have any questions or if you have any ideas you would like to focus on at our meetings.

First Meeting
We are going to have our first support group meeting on Thursday, August 16th, at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will take place at Desert View United Church of Christ located at 11160 Montwood Dr.
I want this support group to be a place where those of us who suffer from fibromyalgia or any other chronic pain disorder can find emotional support, encouragement, and understanding. This will be a place where people can share their experiences without fear of being judged or criticized. This will be a time to discuss common concerns, reduce any feelings of isolation, and share different perspectives on issues in a confidential setting.
I want to form a group that is a safe place to unburden frustrations, disappointments, and fears, but it should also be a group where people can share their successes and insights. I want members to be able to benefit from the experiences of others.
As I state at the top of the blog: "I am not a doctor and do not claim to be an expert, but if I don't know the answer, I will do my best to find it."This group will be a work in progress, and I'm hoping that it will be of great help to others.
The first meeting will be used to get to know each other, and to discuss any topics members would like to discuss at subsequent meetings. Hope to see you at first meeting!
