Hello All!
I'm really getting excited about the idea of this support group. I went to my rheumatologist (who is really up to date on his fibromyalgia) and told him about the group I'm forming. He was very happy and asked me to bring a flier to office for him to display. He said it was about time someone started a group since there were so many people who suffer from fibromyalgia. He also told me how hard it is for people to be told there is nothing wrong with them, or that it is all in their head.
I think once we have gotten this group up and running, I will try to get him to come speak to the group.

First Meeting
We are going to have our first support group meeting on Thursday, August 16th, at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will take place at Desert View United Church of Christ located at 11160 Montwood Dr.
I want this support group to be a place where those of us who suffer from fibromyalgia or any other chronic pain disorder can find emotional support, encouragement, and understanding. This will be a place where people can share their experiences without fear of being judged or criticized. This will be a time to discuss common concerns, reduce any feelings of isolation, and share different perspectives on issues in a confidential setting.
I want to form a group that is a safe place to unburden frustrations, disappointments, and fears, but it should also be a group where people can share their successes and insights. I want members to be able to benefit from the experiences of others.
As I state at the top of the blog: "I am not a doctor and do not claim to be an expert, but if I don't know the answer, I will do my best to find it."This group will be a work in progress, and I'm hoping that it will be of great help to others.
The first meeting will be used to get to know each other, and to discuss any topics members would like to discuss at subsequent meetings. Hope to see you at first meeting!

Under Construction
I'm in the process of starting a support group for people who suffer from fibromyalgia and/or chronic pain. This page will be a way for members to connect with each other or others who suffer from these awful disorders.
